Caroni rum has a mythical status amongst rum connoisseurs and collectors. The Trinidadian distillery closed in 2002, and Balvenie bought up some of the last of its casks that had matured rum for ten years in the Caribbean heat.
David Stewart, Malt Master at Balvenie, finished in them Balvenie whisky distilled in 1994, creating what could be described as an absolute joy.
This is an absolutely unique Balvenie expression. This is the very last of the Caroni rum, and once it’s gone, it’s gone.
